I really appreciate the information found on these pages, and I’m in the “doing due diligence” phase before purchasing a new modem/router. The wireless functionality of the ISP provided router is rather poor. The VLAN option on this router (and I assume on most TPLink routers) isn’t as obvious as with other make/models. I got fed up with it since I could not find a way to block it from being remotely accessed by CL and bought a TP-Link AC4000 router. However, iPOE (which is what the modem is showing) may not require login credentials. Is there an affordable way I can get the maximum potential out of the service I'm paying for with Centurylink? I have the connection type in the Velop set to PPPoE with my username/password and VLAN ID of 201. But once set up (201 was the magic number for me), it connected and it performs beautifully and I, now, have the parental control options I need. I was able to configure my Linksys Velop WiFi 6 router to eliminate the need for the CenturyLink Greenwave C4000 modem from the mix using this technique. You will also need to set VLAN 201 tagging. It was port 4, and of course I was trying to use port 1. And about 25-30% of the time my PS4 doesn't recognize the network via Ethernet cable without restarting the console or the router, but connects via WiFi just fine. I had to use the console to start from scratch. I got the latest Velop for $299 at Costco.com. This topic has been deleted. It will speed test at 900, but multiple simultaneous client connections will quickly overwhelm the CPU. That would be worth checking out as there could be a problem on your line. You might try logging back into the personal router to re-apply the PPPoE login information, I think I did that last time after I lost patience, but probably would have worked anyway. Please try again. Self-install your modem and activate internet. Any ideas? Emily, (or anybody): which port on the Netgear router did you connect the ONT directly to, the yellow WAN(Internet) port?, or one of the 4 LAN Ports? Found your page very useful! Not sure why Google would omit that with such a high profile product. Wait for a while as everything connects, maybe 5 or 10 minutes. Select “Enable VLAN Tag” if it’s not already selected. I'd like to try to enter my information again. Check the “Enable VLAN / Bridge Setup” box. I think I may know the answer for this, but has anyone had success using Google WiFi with transparent bridging mode on the C3000Z on bonded VDSL2 in the legacy Qwest market?I’m guessing the issue I’m having (PPPoE won’t authenticate) is because Google WiFi doesn’t support VLAN tagging. 3. Then somehow my switch just got in a funky state where i need to keep restarting everything until VLANs and DHCP stabilized. But, when I call CL for information about login credentials, and whether or not to se up the ONT for IP address through DHCP on their side … well, let’s just say I was told to upgrade to one of their modem/routers for $200 … or else. This is amazing- great consise info and steps! To customize your pricing and feature options we need a little more information. I do not have DSL, hence no PPPoE UN/PWD, in fact my modem is set up in iPOE mode. Consistently over 900 mbps with the fiber. I spent some time reading through all these comments from 2016-2020, and I’m fairly sure I can make it work…but the problem is that Centurylink is uncooperative, won’t give me PPPoE logins (luckily one tech accidentally gave them to me!) The ZyXEL C3000Z is a combination modem and router. Joseph what are you getting for wired throughput on it? Set up the Netgear router to tag all your Internet traffic with VLAN ID 201, plug the router straight into the fiber box, and go. I see that the Netgear genie for Windows gets confused when the thing is in bridge mode… So you had it set up with bridging mode on the c2100t and Netgear on AP mode before starting anything? I wanted to share my experience (as of 09/30/20) in case someone buys a TP-Link router (Archer whatever the version or any recent TP-Link router as the firmware are generally the same in terms of layout) and runs into connectivity issues/questions. The router was not detecting an available new version. My house is also hooked up with cat5e. I did this with my Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite and it works great! I had everything configured and had a good connection, but the speed was being limited to less than 200Mbps, sometimes I was only seeing 80 Mbps. You may deny us permission by proceeding no further and your denial will have no affect on your current services. Thanks for the help! I am looking for one that will allow for the best wired throughput as well as good wireless. It took me a bit of searching to figure out how to do this, so I thought I’d pass this along. Creating a WAN bridge allows users with multiple public IP addresses to use an internal port (LAN1, LAN2, DMZ), to bypass NAT and have public access (with public IP). I believe its possible the concrete is causing some signal loss but I'm not an expert on this so that's why I'm mentioning it. Tried factory reset and the speedtest page on the router also shows around 500mbps. I just entered my PPPoE information and used the VLAN Tag ID of 201, then plugged the Internet port of the Velop into the same port of the ONT. « [Prism TV] pushing poeple off of their prism service now, CenturyLink confusing terms and conditions », T-Mobile Brings Home Internet Service To 130+ Locations; RIP Slingbox: Devices Will Stop Working By 2021; + more news, AT&T, Verizon & T-Mobile Exceed Expectations Amid Pandemic; Shentel/T-Mobile Deal A Go, Final In 2Q21; + more news, Reps Ask FCC To Stop Controversial Items During Transition; Trudeau: High-Speed Internet For All By 2026; + more news, Goodbye Canadian Internet... we hardly knew you, Scientists 3D print microscopic Star Trek spaceship that moves on its, Question regarding ISP dedicated static IPs and routers.
