The Redmi K20 Pro absolutely blows the Vivo V17 Pro out of the water for just Rs 27,999, while the OnePlus 7 can often be picked up for Rs.

However, the front of the Vivo V17 Pro is really good. So, maybe Vivo could do the same with its “Nex” series or maybe improve the next iteration of V-series by providing competitive specs. You get good details in the images and the colors look nice and punchy too. The 8GB of RAM keeps things ticking smoothly, but you immediately feel the weakened GPU when playing games on anything but low-to-mid settings. Shoddy haptics — They’re just not great. On a different note, I feel like there isn’t any WOW factor with the phone too, which Vivo V-series used to have. Switching to the ultra wide camera comes with a little extra noise and grainy edges, but if you’ve got a bunch of buddies you want to get into shot that extra field of view may be worth the trade off in quality. That’s the short version, the long version involves a lot of wows, disbelief and a hint of disappointment because this is not a bed of roses where you get to twa twa twa without care. With a dual selfie setup, a beautiful AMOLED display, long battery life, neat flagship features and a brand that’s fairly new to Kenyans, the Vivo V17 Pro is a whole lot of confusion. The main 48MP rear shooter and 13MP telephoto sensors are both pretty fantastic for a phone in this price range, and HDR, exposure, and colors are all on point. At the front, there’s dual camera setup: A primary 32MP lens and an additional 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens which I would not say is completely unique but certainly better than what we have been seeing. If you’re happy to stick with a slightly lower-end processor and lose some hardware perks, the Redmi K20, Realme XT, and Oppo Reno 2 all offer comparable specs at a reduced price.

And this one is better than what we have been seeing lately on phones like Realme XT or the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Compare Vivo V17 Pro prices before buying online. While the predecessors brought something unique with each iteration, the V17 Pro fails at that. I know it’s not just a late review, it’s a “late” late review but I am here with it anyways. Vivo V17 Pro Review: Has the V-series lost its spark?

I should note from the start that unless you’re really into beauty modes, you may not like the results from either selfie shooter. But a bulkier form factor and an older chipset don't justify the asking price of the phone.

Although, on the good side, there’s a neat customizable button that you can set to perform whatever function you want either when pressed once, double pressed or long pressed – nice save on an otherwise disappointing software experience.
