Because of this, a real possibility is that Layla is forced into an Animus to heal in a vein similar to Desmond. Some fans see it as a distraction from the main part of the series, while others enjoy the context it adds. Reading her e-mails or listening to her recordings in the game can make you roll your eyes so hard they'll fall off your head... She's in the worst possible spectrum a character can be, a perfect balance of boring, annoying and pure cringeness.
